The fixed landlines
must love him or hate them, there is no middle ground.
The objectives fixed for a long time have been the only way to photograph. With technological progress, however, have caught the zoom to quality with their versatility and have stolen the show from the fixed, so much so that today many manufacturers consider the most important first.
Canon is no exception I think. For some time many fans want to see a renewal of its own in the optical segment of the economy class and instead fixed: the new zoom feature for any occasion.
The only exception is that of more expensive professional goals, which still benefit from regular updates (see the new 300mm and 400mm f/2.8).
What are the advantages of the single focal length lens and why one should prefer?
Meanwhile, in general, goals focal length are almost always very high brightness, zoom and never available on this without becoming prohibitive in price. An example? The 50mm f/1.8 costs only a few hundred euro and offers a brightness unattainable by any zoom.
there's more! The optical scheme of a zoom lens is inevitably a compromise. To try to make it as usable at all focal lengths, it can not be made to give priority to any of them.
Today there are some that are very close to the zoom performance of fixed, but generally not so, especially for glasses with the longer trips.
I do not have to compromise instead of fixed and its optical design is ideal for that focal length and this can be seen immediately. Not at all an 50mm from 100 € can afford a clarity that many L-series lenses do not reach.
After waiting in vain the presentation of new targets of Canon I've decided: the 35mm f / 2 as old, will be mine!
